Have you ever had one of those days at the tables where you seem to set new records for getting shut-out.
The kinda of day where everytime you double-down on an 11, you draw an Ace?
The kinda of day when you double down on every 10, get a 10, but lose to dealer’s 21?
The kinda of day when you’re sitting on a hot deck and some nimrod sitting at 3rd base is hitting 17’s when the dealer is showing a 4?
The kinda of day when you didn’t manage to buy your daily 3 ticket and you’re numbers hit?
The kinda of day when you’re biggest bet is lost by an own-goal by that moron you always thought was wanker?
The kinda of day when you bet red and black, just to see what a win looks like and it comes up 0/00?
Well i’ve had way too many of those days at the tables since christmas last. I’ve decide to renew my luck in our lovely spring, beginning this april. Whether or not the fates/cards cooperate is yet to be seen.

Well i have to tell you that i was extremely disappointed with the state of blackjack on the strip. Unless your willing to play for $15 to $25 minimum to play blackjack, you’re going to have a very hard time finding a table to sit at. So if you think that getting $12/10 for hitting a blackjack is as good as getting $15/10, then you’ll probably be OK, but i’m not letting them rob me. How can they do it? Well first, i will point out that these odds are commonly offering single or two deck games. I believe that the casinos are playing on our knowledge famous “card counters” and hoping that the average player feels the reduced odds are offset by their ability to count cards.
- Well, most people can’t count
- most of the time, with a single deck you won’t make it to a point where you can anticipate outcome before a reshuffle.
- If you are successful and up your bet, they’ll toss and ban you as a card counter.
The most guilty party in this attempt to ripp off the casual gambler is Harrahs. In my mind, Harrahs has done more to take the fun out of Vegas than any other force in the business. From blackjack on the the strip to overcommercialization of the WSOP while under paying dealers to making sure that their top brand, Caesars Palace, has the tightest slots of the strip. Their rooms are dated, their prices too high and all the “fun” has been crushed. If you loved to play blackjack at Harrahs on strip at the Party Pit, forget it, it’s gone!
So? Should you stay home? Head to Macau or Monte Carlo? No, there is still some fun on the strip, but it’s limited to some of the older casino hotels. I found myself playing at the Sahara, The Hilton, Riviera and my old favorite, Slots O Fun just in front of the Circus Circus. If you want to stay at Wynn or Bellagio, that’s great, just head up to north of end of the strip and gamble for less! You still get the free drinks, comp points that you can cash out or spend it on food.
So if you’re heading to vegas for some low limit play, it’s increasingly difficult find.

Well it’s been a long time since i’ve visited. I’ve been busy working, schooling and generally running that treadmill of life. I’ve play little blackjack or poker in the last few months, but i just can’t wait for Dec 1st because Vegas here i come!
I plan on spending my time moving between blackjack and craps, at the lowest limits i can find, throw back a few drinks and enjoy. Heck i’ll be working most of the days, but the weekend and the nights are mine.
Come to Vegas, Visit Casino Everest today to enter to win a Las Vegas vacation.

So i’ve been playing a lot of online poker lately and a bit of blackjack. I’ve been mainly playing at Party Casino and Ultimate Bet (one time home of the devilfish), depending on where i’ve been playing poker. This has let to some misfortunes for yours truly. You see the layout of the 2 blackjack tables, is different. Specifically and most importantly, each have chosen the opposite side of the hand for the “Hit” and “Stand” buttons. Imagine how angry you become when you hit a 17 or even worse, fail to hit 10, with the dealer showing 6. If you can imagine anything more frustrating, that doesn’t involve a bird, i’d very much like to hear your story.
We all know what a tight game blackjack is, without having to give away winning hands and competing hands because of confusion between two versions of the game. While i’m not willing to stop playing at one of the places, it’s important to keep in mind, there is no clock running for single player blackjack. This should be a warning, take care when switching between platforms.
i’m supposed to be having some challenge matches with another blogger, but he’s been tied up with work, so i continue to await our match.

Well it was back to Casino Windsor, soon to be renamed “Caesars Windsor” as Harrahs tries to Spread the Caesar brand. Back to the blackjack table i went, just a couple weeks following my successful trip at the end of June.
I arrived around 11:30am on saturday and found a seat 2nd from the left end. The people at the right side of the table were popping up and down and left after a few hands, eventually it was 4 or 5 of us for the next hour. it was a friendly table, with all of us pretty much playing the same strategy. With the exception of one Soft 14 that hit to make my neighbor happy, i played well. And lost about $100 in less than an hour. With the dealer changing and the shoe playing bad, i got and left. For the Craps Table….
Stopped at what i thought was a $5 craps table, but was $10 and proceeded to lose $50 in about 2 minutes. Instead of leaving, i took my last $50 to the $5 table and started playing. It wasn’t long before i was down to my last $5, when the some new people stepped up, including an old woman, to my right who didn’t speak, but played actively by motioning the croupiers. This was the beginning of my climb from $5, back past $200. Ultimately finishing up $9, left as a tip to the staff. I’d have to say it’s hard to have any more fun than that, without winning money.
